I bought a bookshelf! And put it together! And learned, by the by, that it is 100% easier to do that with a hammer and screwdriver than it is to do it with a butter knife and a heavy shoe. So go me, for (finally) buying myself a tool kit for Christmas!

My office is SUPER crowded now, but I care not because: ACTION FIGURES (etc). As soon as I bring them in from the car.

The blogs that I wrote last week are starting to get posted, along with some reviews of OWEN.

I was asked why OWEN appeals to younger readers, and my answer is: It's A Trap (the last gif should be Gandalf's "it is undoubtedly a trap", but I didn't do the coding, so I can't really complain).

Also, there is a review on Writer's Rumpus that says some lovely things.

Hobbit fic, I tell you.

Elfie!

Sooooooo much mail.

INCLUDING THIS:

elfie

*twirls*

I will take a better picture when I am wearing it FOR REAL, with the tights and boots as well (and also because it was hard to lace myself into, but I LOVE IT SO MUCH).

So way back in the LotR heyday, Ain't It Cool News did a contest where you had to build a Balrog out of marshmallows, light it on fire and take a picture. The original post (ie. the first hit when you google "marshmallow balrog") does not have the photos anymore (just the text). Does anyone know where I might find them?

I can't top her description of it either, so:

Adam Savage, in a Farraday Cage, dancing to the Dr. Who theme, as performed by ArcAttack's Tesla Coils.

Yes, you read all those words together in one sentence.

2010 is HERE, my friends. And even though we have not yet been taken over by aliens (or perhaps because!), it is the Extreme Dan/Jan Day! And I am ludicrously excited. ;)

I first saw "2010" at [livejournal.com profile] meg_tdj's house, back when "d" stood for "Daniel", because [livejournal.com profile] pellucid and [livejournal.com profile] mylittleredgirl were there, and they were all shocked I hadn't seen it. I believe I ate gummi bears.

Anyway, it's been six years, or so, since then, and we've all sort of moved on, but tonight we are partying like it's, uh, 2010, and I am having a blast!

Two presents:

Oh, and we're all currently in the chat room Knighting each other. You, my dear friend, have the pleasure of reading the journal of Sir Kate, Rock Knight.

I don't mean to overstate my case, but this vid is probably the most amazingly brilliant thing I've ever seen. It combines my love of music, my love of (classic) John Williams, my love of a capella singing, my love of Star Wars, my love of geekery, and my love of BRILLIANCE (and the part with Whiney Luke isn't even the best part of the song!)!

Seriously, y'all. I'm pretty sure it's why the internet was invented.

(I think the best part is Superman because the lyrics and the music are both great...what do you think?)

(ETA: The other great part is the bit at the end where the one in the black orders popcorn with extra butter.)

That's right, my friends, in the midst of the various and sundry eruptions that surrounded the finale of Battlestar Galactica, there was a cake. A Battlestar Galacticake.

And this is how I did it... )

Now, on to planning the birthday cake!

Last week, OB-Wan gave me a chocolate version of the Defiant from Star Trek: DS9. I was immediately inspired to create Action Figure Theatre. I don't actually own any action figures, however, but I was determined not to let that stop me. )

...what will they try selling us next Easter?
