OH, MARY LANG! HOW ARE YOU SO AWESOME? I CAN'T EVEN.
WHY ARE FELICITY AND ANNE FIGHTING?
OMG, JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMES! YOU CAN TOTALLY DIE FROM POST-MALARIA! THAT WOULD NOT BE COOL!
Also, I love how Mrs. Vine was all "Hey, you brought home a street kid who is actually a woman! BATH TIME!" *pets her*
OH, LORD, THE KISSING!
I swear, I had a whole rational thing planned out while I was reading, about gender and Victorian accuracy and so on, but that was a night shift and a batch of snickerdoodles ago, and I am FEELING THE CAPS.
The only thing about the book I didn't adore was that the only religious character was a jerk and a hypocrite. That always makes me sad. I get that there Victorians who used religion as a front and so on, but surely SOMEONE must have been decent.
BUT REALLY: KISSING!
Ironically, Ying Lee commented on the last review about how thoughtful I was. At least I made a good first impression!
9/10 for ALL THE AWESOME THINGS THAT HAPPENED, and because soon I will get book three.
