grav_ityI find it more than a little hilarious that the number of Magical Rings on this show rivals the number of people who keep diaries.
(Spoilers up to 1x18)
So Alistair's ring is really Jon's ring, and Jon's ring is really Gray's. Which means that at some point after 1864, some witch made that ring for the Gilbert family. I can't help but wonder if it was Emily, in an attempt to save her own life, but I think we need to go back to the beginning of this paragraph and take a close look at something:
JON GILBERT HAS HIS BROTHER'S RING.
Which is important, I think, because it means that Gray wasn't wearing it when he died (or...that the ring doesn't protect against drowning...but that seems weird and unlikely to me). Which makes me wonder if Grayson gave up the ring or if Jon stole it and replaced it with a fake.
THIS IS INTERESTING, because it casts an entirely sinister light on Gray's whole "Save Elena first" conversation with Stefan. Did Gray think he was going to live?
Also, I Jon seems to know everything, which means he must know what Katherine looks like, which means he too must be aware of the whole "dead ringer" thing, which means he probably also knows who Elena's father is (if it isn't actually his own self).
In conclusion, I hope they get that ring off of him and snap his neck, because I am very much on Team!Pearl at this point, and I don't want her to kill any more Gilberts than she absolutely has to.
This show is so much fun! And I love it all the more for actually answering questions as they come along.
